God picked a rose from his Rose Garden and called his faithful servant, Mrs. Gertrude Chambers home.
Gertrude was born to the late Nelson and Mattie McCorvey Stallworth on November 10, 1920 in Repton, Alabama. She was one of 15 children.
Gertrude married the late Mark Goodson and to this union one child was born, John Henry Goodson. She left Alabama and came to Cincinnati in 1947 where she remained. Gertrude later married Grady Chambers, who preceded her in death.
Gertrude professed her faith and life in Christ and was a devout member of Greater Mt. Rose Baptist Church, where she worshiped under Rev. Fred Parker with her church family. Anyone, yes, anyone who knew her or came in contact with Mrs. Gertrude, knew she was a great person, a wonderful person and a warm person with such a great sense of humor; a woman with a heart so big, many often wondered how such a big heart could fit into a little chest, such as hers. She always had kind words to say to any and everyone, also with a smile on her face. No matter what she was going through, she would always say "Just trust in the Lord and everything will be alright". Anyone in need or needed help, she would be there.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her only son, John Henry Goodson (Teresa); one daughter/granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson; one sister, Miami Castleberry; seven grandchildren, David, John E., Evelyn (Tim), Kim, Brandy, John Jr.; three stepchildren; eight great grandchildren, Duane, Natasha, Jerry, Ladonna, Danielle, Karmen, Karmoni and Elijah; five great-great grandchildren, Deshawnta, Dale, Ausaria, Desiah and Duane Jr.; six nieces, Betty Davis (Cali), Anna P. Green (Cali), Rose and Virginia Castleberry, Sallie Curtis and Loretta Nichols; three nephews, Wilbert Longmire, Joe Kennedy and Charles Stallworth; very dear friends, Mrs. Susie Young and Mina Nixon and a host of great-nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.
