Gloria Rochelle Walters (nee Johnson) went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 17 at the age of 81.
Beloved wife of 63 years to Jahue (Cooch) R. Walters. Devoted mother to Sheila Lewis, Tammy Leet, Candace (Stephen) Montgomery, Zane (Angela) Walters and Veronica (Floyd) Hoskins. Loving grandmother to Jessica Lewis, Courtney Lewis, Nina Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Michael Leet, Matthew Leet, Christopher (Patti) Leet, John (April) Combs, Stephen (Nicole) Montgomery, Brandon (Jessica) Montgomery, Jacob Walters, Grace Walters, Joseph Walters, Hannah Hoskins and Nicholas Hoskins. Great-grandmother to 23.
Gloria was born in Alva, Kentucky to Madge (Ramsey) and Floyd Johnson on February 1, 1938. Sister to the late Max, Ralph, Zane Johnson and Marion Miracle. Survived by dear sister Sharon Hoskins and brother Jerry Johnson. Loving aunt to several nieces and nephews.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Gloria was a lifelong follower of Christ. She was an active member of the Anchor of Hope Church where she had many lifelong friends. She worshipped by singing, playing the piano, guitar and other instruments. She was part of The Celestial Four gospel group who produced a record. Throughout her entire life she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course; I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7
Services will be at The Pentecostal Anchor of Hope Church, 5766 Buckwheat Rd, Milford, OH 45150 on Wednesday, January 22. Visitation will start at 4:00 with the funeral at 7:00. Burial will be on Thursday at Mathel Cemetery in Pineville, Kentucky.
