Harlene Hargis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, born on February 18, 1934, in Maysville, Kentucky. She peacefully departed this world on September 22, 2024, in Latonia, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, cherished memories.
Harlene the devoted wife of Calvin V. Hargis for 29 wonderful years, whose love and partnership blessed her life in countless ways. Their bond was a testament to enduring affection and companionship that resonated throughout her life.
She leaves behind her husband and son, Johnathan Keith Gragston. Harlene was a proud grandmother to Keric (Felicia) Johnson, Lakicia Hall, Whitney (Josh) Walker, Lakila Johnson, Patrick (Autumn) Walker, and Sedrick Walker. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she took great delight in being a part of their lives, celebrating every milestone with enthusiasm.
Harlene was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, ensuring her legacy of love would carry on for generations to come. Also surviving, daughters-in-law, Alice Hall and Tajana Gragston.
Among the many who will miss her are her dear friends Kim (James) Trapane and Sadie Whatley. These friendships were precious to Harlene, enriching her life as she shared laughter and stories with those she loved.
Harlene was preceded in death by her beloved father, Jay Hall, and her mother, Percolia Gragston (nee Slater), as well as her sons William Hall and Mark Gragston, and her grandson William "T" Anthony Hall.
Harlene had many passions that defined her vibrant spirit. She found joy in traveling with Cal, exploring new horizons hand in hand. Known for her warmth and hospitality, she loved hosting parties for her friends and neighbors, creating an atmosphere filled with love and laughter. Her family was her pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them, illuminating her home with affection.
Shopping was another of her joys, particularly when she could find a good sale. She had a keen eye for bargains, always enjoying the thrill of the hunt. Additionally, her love for her cats, Yompers and Specks, showcased her gentle nature and nurturing spirit. Above all, her devotion to her faith provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life.
As we gather to celebrate Harlene's extraordinary life, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us for visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, 4350 Dixie Hwy. Erlanger, KY 41018 on October 4, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. The graveside service will take place at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell at 1:30 PM.
Harlene Hargis touched the hearts of many and her spirit will forever be remembered in the stories shared and the love bestowed by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
