Harold Evans

September 8, 1932 — September 17, 2012

Harold W. Evans, son of Jesse J. and Mildred H. Evans. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 8, 1932. He was one of 12 children. He departed this earthly life on September 17, 2012 at 10:35 p.m. at the Scarlet Oaks Health Care Facility.

Harold was dedicated to his faith, family and friends. He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System and entered the U.S. Army where he served in the Artillery Division and attained the rank of Sergeant. After being discharged he worked for many years with the Dunken Janitorial Service and the Drayton Janitorial Service and later as a security guard.

He joined Towns Chapel CME Church at an early age and served there for many years eventually moving his membership to the Metropolitan CME Church and served in too many positions to mention. He also served as the church custodian and took pride in caring for the house of God. Harold was a very proud member of the Metropolitan CME Church. He loved to sing and began at the 1st Baptist Church in College Hill and also sang with the NOEL Gospel Singers-one of the first black gospel groups to be featured on television every week. He lived at the Beecher Apartments and had many beautiful friends there and was the devotional leader for the programs held there.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse J. and Mildred H. Evans; his sisters Betty, Louise, Shirley and Barbara and his brothers, Jessie (Bud), William (Peewee) and Ronald (Bunny). Harold is suvived by one sister Virginia (Jenny) and three brothers, Gerald, Russell and Steven and a special nephew who was raised by his mother Richard (Ricky) and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many, many friends.

Special mention: Sisters-in-law, Margie Evans, Carole Evans, Amber Evans, his buddy Mary (Macy) Pittman and Samuel L. Jackson and McCharles Bryant who made sure that Harold got to church and back home each Sunday he was able!
