Harold E "Shep" Shepard, age 84, of Anderson Twp, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 6, 1938 to Harold and Florence Shepard (nee Wigton).
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brothers and sisters; Allen, William, Geraldine, Linda, JoAnne, Donna, Irene and Eileen.
Harold is the beloved husband of 45 years of Nancy Lou Shepard (nee Cousino).
His children are Kristina (James) McHugh, Karen (Mark) Niehous, H. Daniel (Heidi) Shepard, Chele (Rick Lutz) Willson and Michael P (Kristin) Lowe.
Harold is the grandfather of Cameron McHugh, Austin McHugh, Allison (Derrick) Short, Vaughn Niehous, Sean Shepard, Brittany Willson, Taylor Willson, Haley Willson, Madeline Lowe and Catherine Lowe. His great grandchildren are Gunnar, June and Walker Short.
Harold also enjoyed the time he spent with his sisters and brothers-in-law: Judy (Don) Brighton, Jean (James) Relford, Ron (Trudy) Cousino and Tom (Barb) Cousino. Harold also has many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Harold is a retired police officer having worked 28 years with the Toledo Police Department. He is also a United States Army veteran. He loved fishing in the Upper Peninsula, walleye fishing in Lake Erie as well as deep sea fishing. He was a member of the Elks Club in Maumee, Ohio.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 21,2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio (43623) from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Services will be officiated by Pastor Lindy Maurice-Saum of Hope United Methodist Church. Shep will also receive honors from the Toledo Police Department Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
Facemasks will be provided at the funeral home for those who choose to wear one.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of Mercy Anderson Hospital and the Hospice of Cincinnati staff who cared for him during his hospital stay.
