Hattie M. Mathews

February 5, 1922 — June 6, 2015

"RING IN THE ALARM"
Hattie M. (BEYONCE') Mathews was born on February 5, 1922 to the late Harrison and Rose Carlisle, in a little town known as Akmer, Alabama. She was one of four children born to this union. Two have preceded her crossing over from this life. Hattie relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio at an early age. Here, she gave her life to Christ at a very young age. She received her education here that later she used in seeking employment at the Santa Marie Day Care facility where she remained for over thirty years as their main cook.

"DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE"
Hattie was blessed to meet the late Earnest Mathews. He was the sole caregiver and provider for his children, who had lost their mother at an early age. They both knew that he needed a loving helpmate to assist him in raising his children and a strong woman to be by his side. On June 28th, 1958, Hattie married Earnest; and she immediately stepped in, embraced and raised the children as her very own. She had one loving son, the late Edward "Big Son" Mathews, two daughters; the late Charlene Mathews and Saundra Mathews Rogers. Hattie was also blessed to have another loving, devoted daughter, Lillian Lee. She kept an immaculate home and believed in providing her family with love and home cooked meals. She always spoke in a mild voice, but you knew when she was serious about the issue at hand. Hattie knew the importance of having God in her life and wanted to share this with her children. She raised her children in a loving Christian home, attending the St. John AME Church located in the West End and then relocated to Avondale on Forest Ave, where she attended faithfully until her health began to fail.

"SWEET DREAMS"
Earnest Hattie departed this earthly life peacefully on June 6th, 2015, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, after living a Long, Productive, Family Oriented life of "93" Golden Years! She is now "IRREPLACEABLE" as she joined her loving husband of 54 uninterrupted years. She is survived by two loving, dedicated daughters; Saundra (Roy) Rogers and Lillian (Daryl) Lee, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Loveless (Irene) Carlisle of L.A., California; four grandchildren; Denise Spalding, Ricky Staley, Candace (Maurice) Bryant and Nathan Rogers, two Great Grand Children whom she spent numerous years with; her "BLUE" Miss Sidney and her "IF I WERE A BOY" Kyle, and a host of many other relatives and very close friends.

Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 13, 2015 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
