Herman J. Henkenberns, Jr.

April 12, 1936 — July 18, 2022

Henkenberns, Herman J. age 86, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 12, 1936 to the late Herman, Sr. and Bernadette Henkenberns (nee Ungruhe).

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Walter and son, Kevin. Herman is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Eleanora Henkenberns (nee Wilhelm); children, Chris, James (Julie Downs), Maureen and Jeffrey; several grandchildren; brother, Robert; and a host of other family members and friends.

Herman was an Air Force veteran who was most proud of his 4 years of service, which gave him a life-long love of aviation; resulting in a passion for model airplanes and consuming any books or articles about aviation. He retired from Queen City Metro after 40 years of service as a coach operator.

Besides his love of family, Herman's life centered on the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, UC Bearcats and Xavier Musketeers. Win or lose, he loved them all. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

In loving memory of Herman, contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Cincinnati Children's Hospital at www.cincinnatichildrens.org or Shriners Children's Hospital at www.shrinerschildrens.org. A visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a service to follow at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - West Side Chapel, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.
