He served in the Army Sigma Corps behind the infantry with the 9th Army during the European Theater. His unit was the 278th Signal Pigeon Company which sent messages on carrier pigeons during WWII. He continued on with his passion for homing pigeons once he returned from overseas. He won a trophy for softball and a National Salesmanship Award. He also won a medal when one of his pigeons came in 7th place out of 5,000 in a European pigeon race.
Among his many accomplishments, the one he valued most was raising 8 wonderful children and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a jeweler under the G.I Bill as well as an owner of a cleaning supplies business. From the age of 10 years old, he won many amateur shows playing the saxophone. Although he was invited to perform, because of his young age, his father wouldn't allow him to go on Major Bo's Amateur Hour Show in New York City.
He will be remembered as a loving father and a hardworking man who was an avid music lover. He enjoyed taking care of his pigeons, watching sports and baking for his family. His world revolved around his wife and children; whom all know how much they were loved.
