Jimmy, who was affectionately referred to as "Hot Dog" by his grandchildren, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia Lou Dowling (nee Afterkirk) and children, Gay Stottman, Beth Wynn and Scott Dowling. Jimmy is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Ashley Stottman (Ryan) Reeves, Kasi Epling (William) Steward, Anabel Dowling, Olivia Dowling, RJ Wynn and Gabriel Dowling; significant other, Joyce Cliff; brother, Tommy Dowling; sister-in-law, Joyce (the late Gary) Jump; daughter-in-law, BJ Dowling; son-in-law, Greg Stottman; nephew, Jeff Jump; great-grandchildren, Gaven, Joclin, Adalyn, Eliana and Ivy; and a host of other family members and friends.
They can all recall thousands of stories that Jimmy loved to tell about hunting adventures and his days as a lineman for CG&E. Jimmy loved all things outdoors, and he always had a good dog by his side. He spent countless hours at his farm with his dog, Marley. He loved traveling until the very end and was still making plans to visit the mountains where he spent multiple weeks every year. In earlier years he spent time every summer at Daytona Beach, inspiring a love for the area in his children and grandchildren. He loved exploring and going to the Cincinnati Zoo with his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to joke about how they belonged in the monkey exhibit. He will be missed dearly by those he leaves behind.
A memorial graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 2PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
