James Howard Wooley was born November 3, 1933 in Brent, Alabama to James and Mary Jane Mason Wooley; who preceded him in death. James was the sixth child of fourteen children. He was preceded in death by sisters Cornell Kennebrew, Dora Harris, Ollie C. West and Earleen Wilson; brothers, Theoes Wooley, Lovell Wooley and Ross Lee Wooley. Howard, as he was called by family and friends, relocated from Alabama to Cincinnati as a young man. he worked in railroad construction and as a cement finisher, but also had a passion for racing and rebuilding cars. In 1958, he was united in marriage to Ruby Lee Syfax and to this union were born three daughters Jonica M. Wooley, Carnetta Callender, and Teresa Jane Wooley all of Cincinnati, OH. He was also father to Venice Woods, Juanesta Whiting of Atlanta, GA and one son, William Ambrose (deceased).
James accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of Bibleway COGIC and Deliverance Temple. He also faithfully served as a member of Good News COGIC until his health began to fail. He leaves to cherish his memory: nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jerleane Wadlington (Ealer), Wyonie Plear (Tim) of Cincinnati, OH, Justine Johnson of San Antonio, TX; three brothers, Ivory Lee Wooley of Columbus, OH, Josephus Wooley of Cincinnati, OH, and Rev. Wayne Wooley, Sr. (Shirley) of Birmingham, Al, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
