James A. Portwood, Sr.

James A. Portwood, Sr., 76, of Elsmere, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. He was born in Verona, Kentucky on September 12, 1945 to the late Charles E. and Lillian Portwood (nee Brooks).
James was a loving man that cherished his family and served his country Honorably in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a Gas Operator with Duke Energy and was an avid Fisherman. He also loved to Roller Skate and taught lessons for many years.
James is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Portwood (nee Kessen); three sons, Jimmy, Troy, and Andrew; one grandson Lazarus; one sister, Mary Ann Ladrigan; one brother, Marvin Portwood; two nephews as well as a host of other family members and friends.
The family of Mr. Portwood will host a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northern Kentucky Chapel, 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018.
In Lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in Memory of James.
He will be laid to rest at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North at a later date.
