Jerome Thomas

Jerome (Jerry) was born on February 15th, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Fred (Preach) Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Thomas. After a long battle with multiple health issues, Jerry departed from this earth the morning of June 24th, 2013.

Jerry and Shirley Mae Leslie were joined in matrimony on November 16, 1963.

Jerry joined the United States Air Force in 1961, where he had a lengthy career as a Staff Sergeant in the military police, until he was honorably discharged in 1969. Upon discharge, he worked in the security business for over 25 years, until health issues forced an early retirement.

Jerry was a great husband, father and friend. Jerry never met a stranger. He told the corniest jokes and had the funniest laugh. He was always the first person to ask for the microphone; even though he couldn't carry a tune. Jerry was also a history buff and an avid military collector. Jerry was also an avid reader and would read multiple books at one time.

Jerry was preceded in his death by his parents, sister, Shirley (Thomas) Hammonds and brother-in-law, Robert Hammonds Sr.

He leaves behind to mourn, his beloved wife Shirley Thomas; sister-in-law, Inayah (Leslie) Baskerville and brother-in-law, Amin Baskerville; four daughter, Brenda, Theresa, and Lisa Thomas, Pamela (Thomas) Givens and son-in-law Roman, (Clee) Givens; (9) grandchildren, Denise and Gary (spouse) Walker, Desiree', Brittany, Taelor, Donovan, Noelle, Miyah, Samuel Jr., Joy Elizabeth; (1) Great- granddaughter Lauryn; plus a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He will truly be missed.
