Jerome was born on July 1, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio, from the union of Alfonso Huckleberry and Pauline Hall-Huckleberry. He departed this life on September 20, 2012.
Jerome was a very active little boy, who enjoyed playing outside and working on things. He and his brothers loved to watch their dad work on things.
He confessed Christ and was baptized at the age of 12 in 1963, at New Jerusalem Baptist church by then Pastor Lilious Tanks. His favorite church song was "Jesus is Love."
Jerome graduated from Western Hills High School in 1969. He worked for a period of time in the insurance industry. Jerome also attended college. He started to work at Keebler in 1972 as a maintenance engineer. After a chemical explosion at Keebler, in 1990, Jerome suffered from first, second and third degree burns. That explosion was the beginning of his grieving agony and continuous pain. Soon after, cancer began to invade his body. He'd lived with cancer so long, even the doctors were amazed.
Jerome wanted to have his body donated to science because the research may be a way to help others.
Jerome leaves to mourn his passing his three children in whom he always expressed pride: Dabora "Day" Curtiss (Jeff) of Missouri. She has two of his grandsons, Phoenix and Xavier. His second daughter Paula Huckleberry (John) has three of his grandsons; Charles II, Christopher and Christian Wright (from her first marriage). She is expecting her fourth son on January 8, 2013. His only son; Jason Ober (Brandi) has two of his youngest grandsons; Davis and Jason Ober Jr. Jerome would often smile while speaking fondly of his grand children.
He also leaves siblings; Georgia Mae H.T. Brown, Charles Thomas Huckleberry (Renee), Paulette Patricia Foster (James), Mildred Huckleberry-Johnson and Stephanie Ann Williams of Columbus, Georgia.
There are a host of relatives including nieces, nephews and cousins.
