Jesse W. Merriweather Jr., "TV Shorty", was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 4, 1947 to Rev. Jesse W. Merriweather Sr. and Ethel B. Merriweather (nee Martin). He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Reverend Junius S. Maupin Pastor. Jesse served on the junior usher board. He graduated from Central High School in Cincinnati in 1965.
Jesse always had a profound love for music; and with a group of longtime friends, he started "Bad News Inc" band. Jesse was very talented and his instruments of choice were the saxophone and keyboard. Jesse also enjoyed preparing and serving food, a trait he picked up from his father. He went on to work in the food service industry until he retired at the age of 62.
Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Jesse W. Merriweather Sr.; twin brother, Jess L. Merriweather; grandson, James N. Merriweather. Jesse is survived by his mother, Ethel B. Merriweather; beloved wife of 41 years, Gwendolyn Merriweather; brother, Parish (Geti) Merriweather; sister-in-laws Doris Franklin, Rose Ford, Angela (Greg) Tye, and Denise Franklin-Collier; children, Tyrane Reese, Jesse W. Merriweather III, Lisa R. Merriweather, Kourtney M. (Emmanuel) Black, and Shanita Futrell; 12 grandchildren, LaQuita Reese, Stella Reese, Reginald Merriweather, Joshua Merriweather, Gloria Merriweather, Jeremiah Merriweather, Jahia Hunn, Keigan Cannon, Shamar Furtrell, Kaydence Black, Zoey Burbridge, and Kinsley Black; aunts, Josephine (Lucian) Dillingham, Doris Merriweather, and Pearl Martin; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren, and friends.
