Joan Tiffany Thompson
October 4, 1940 — March 25, 2022
Joan Tiffany Thompson, age 81, beloved wife Philip S Thompson, devoted mother of Philip (Katye) Thompson of Cincinnati and John Thompson of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Mercy West Hospital.
Joan was the heart of her family, attracted to people, a woman of great kindness and love. She diffused an aura of love and nurturing to all she met.
She attended the University of Cincinnati on a Humanities scholarship. She married Phillip in 1969, and shared with him a love of the Cincinnati Symphony and the Cincinnati Opera.
She served as the assistant to the President of WCET, before leaving to raise her sons. When the children went to school, she went to work in the Xavier University Alumni Office where she especially loved her duties serving as the liaison to the Edgecliff Alumni Association. In recognition of this work, she was made an Honorary Edgecliff Alumnus by the Association in 2003. Joan made many lifelong friends in the Xavier Family and among the students.
Upon retirement, she served as the Director of Volunteers at Our Daily Bread. When she retired once again, she served on the board of My Neighbor's Place.
Beloved by her family, she especially relished traveling with her family on European vacations.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Holy Family Church, Price Hill, from 9:30 AM until the funeral mass at 10:30 AM.
