Smith, JoAnn age 66, of Loveland, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 17, 1955 to the late Urban Jack and Mary Freeda Gutjhar (nee Cosby).
JoAnn is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Irvin Laibson; daughter, Charmaine (Demetrios) Ngozi; granddaughters, Bomani and Ada Ngozi; siblings, Bob (Kim) Gutjhar, Patti (Bryan) Richardson and Don (Julie) Gutjhar; Irvin Laibson's side of the family, his daughter Ivory; granddaughter Stella; brother Ken; mother Estelle Laibson and all those who adored her; and a host of other family members and friends.
JoAnn was a rare individual that broke the odds; she didn't finish high school, yet she became a very successful travel agent. She overcame alcoholism and incarceration. JoAnn eventually became the chairwoman of a women's owned small business, Proud WMN, that helped give back to women, people of color, those with disabilities, and veterans. And most of all, as a mother of a daughter who became a doctor, and two incredibly talented grandchildren. She spent 25 years with the love of her life, Irv. Together they created and worked on many projects together, but most importantly, shared many laughs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
