JOHN EVERETT WOOD was most definitely known as a man who loved and was loved by his family, so it was only fitting that he was surrounded by that family on Thursday, December 10, 2015 when he lost his battle with cancer.
John was born April 18, 1930 to H. Everett and Frances (nee Kelley) Wood. His 85 years gave him a lot to be proud of. On April 4, 1951 at 20 years of age he married the love of his life, Wilma Jean McKenzie and the 2 were happily married for 64 1/2 years. Those years brought them 6 children, Jeff (Woody) and his wife Anita Wood, Judy Wood, Janet Wood, Jayne Wood Roy, Joel and his wife Cindy Wood and James and his wife Kimberly Wood. He was also an amazing grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Mary (Robert) Hughes, Larry Wood, Gary Wood, Cheri Wood Edens and Terry Wood. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents and grandchildren, Jay Brandon Wood and Christina Gorder.
During 26 of his years he taught science at Delhi Junior High School. On April 10, 1965 John symbolized his dedication to his god Jehovah by water baptism, and remained faithful to that dedication to his death. He was a very creative man who loved woodworking and playing music. John was a firm believer in the Bible's hope of a coming paradise earth in which loved ones would be reunited by means of the resurrection. That hope gave him and his family much comfort.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5629 Bridgetown Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45248.
