The Obituary
Deacon John Henry Johnson was born on July 4, 1921 in LaGrange, GA to the late John Honor and Irene Ross Johnson. John had one sister, Katherine Clark who preceded him in death.
John and his sister came to Lockland, Ohio in 1923 to live with aunts and uncles due to the early death of their parents.
John attended Lockland Public Schools. He learned the trade of cleaning and blocking hats. He was employed at Jack's Hat Shop for 33 years.
John united in marriage in 1952 to the late Eroestine Walker. He also united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church in the early 1950's. Together they were devoted members. Later, John H. Johnson was appointed to the Deacon Board where he served until failing health no longer permitted him to serve.
Deacon Johnson enjoyed talking to family and friends. His fishing "buddy" was Butch Harding. They took annual fishing trips to Canada. He also enjoyed traveling with the Hardings.
Deacon Johnson leaves to mourn his early demise, Butch and Janie Harding; Helen Andrews, Debra Burton, Jack and Ida Wetzig and the members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, especially the Deacon Board.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
II Timothy 4:7-8
