John W. Lucus, age 80, of Harrison, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was born in Paducah, Kentucky on January 2, 1942 to James Bell Lucus and Virginia Wolff (nee Mathews).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Nancy Carolyn Lucus (nee Rowe); his parents; and brothers, James Lucus and Patrick Lucus. John is survived by his sons, John Alan Lucus and Scott (Christy) Lucus; granddaughters, Bethany (Ethan) Geist, Rachel (Brian) Helmholz, and Sarah Lucus; grandsons, Adam Lucus, Zachary Lucus; great-grandchildren, Harper Geist and Liam Geist; brothers, Rob Lucus and David (Pam) Gallant; and a host of other family members and friends.
John proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. During this time, he was on board the USS Forrestal during its fire in 1967. He was also a member of the VFA-11 squadron aka the Red Rippers. John had a successful career for many years as an electrical engineer. In his free time, he absolutely loved playing golf. He also was very talented with woodworking, and was a member of the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild. He was a family man that adored his grandkids. A man of faith, John served as deacon at his church, Harrison Avenue Baptist Church. John and his wife, Nancy, also enjoyed going on many road trips across the United States.

Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Friday, December 30, 2022 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Harrison Avenue Baptist Church, 1125 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, Ohio 45030. Graveside Service and Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd at 11:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
