Brother Joseph Dennis Jr. was born on June 1, 1936 to the late Julia Jackson and Joseph Dennis Sr. He departed this life early Friday morning on September 28, 2012.
Joseph was born in Eatonton, GA, but was raised in Cincinnati, OH. He was the eldest of three children. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1955.
Joseph was united in Holy Matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Eura Farley on February 3, 1956. To this union three sons were born. Both he and Eura were married for a blessed 56 years.
Joseph gave his life to Christ in 1983 at the True Holiness Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Lewis Tobert. As a member of the church, Joseph was a hard and faithful worker. He served as head of the Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher, Usher, member of the H.Y.P.U. and member of the Executive Board.
Joseph worked at Sawbrook Steel for 29 years. He was president of the union during his tenure there. In this position he brought about many changes for the good of the workers.
He loved hunting, fishing, and most of all, boating with his family. He was a man who wanted to treat everyone right and help everyone he could. He cherished his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle and much more to many others.
Joseph was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Dennis and sister, Mamie Collier.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Eura Dennis; sons, Joseph Dennis III and Michael Dennis (Lucille); three adopted children, Brianna, Katherine and Simeon Dennis; two grandchildren, Shapri Berger and Zander Gatewood; one great-grandson, Acacio Berger; one sister, Eva Lee; two brothers, Jeff and Bobby Dennis and a host of other family and friends.
Please join Joseph's family for a service celebrating his life at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231, on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
