Joseph James Davis was born to the union of Rosie Davis and Joseph Porter. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and he was a member of Second Baptist Church in Newport, Kentucky under the leadership of Reverend Frederick L. McMillan.
Joseph graduated from Aiken High School class of 1991.
Joseph married Julia Hodge and this union was blessed with a daughter, Bessie, and a step-son, Bryan Sr. Joseph had a heart of gold and he loved his family dearly.
He worked at TGI Fridays as a cook until he became a correctional officer at Campbell County Detention Center.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ethel and Burlie Davis; cousin, Lovetta Mitchell; and little Robert Davis.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his wife Julia; daughter, Bessie; step-son, Bryan Sr.; five grandchildren, Paris, London, La'Myia, Bryan Jr., and Camdyn; two brothers, Chris and Jason (Bridget); two step-sisters; four step-brothers; his parents, Rosie Davis and father Joseph Porter (Shannon); mother-in-law, Bessie; four aunts, Ivory Goodman (Lee), Shirley (Ronnie), Doretha, and Dorthy; five uncles, Ernest, Burley Jr., James, Charles, and Lee Eston; best friends, Mark Moore and La France Robinson; special friend, Nea; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 26, 2016 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Second Baptist Church of Newport, 713 Brighton Street, Newport, Kentucky 41071.
