Joseph Keith Hamilton

March 3, 1959 — May 23, 2012

Joseph Keith Hamilton, age 53, earned his angel wings on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 en route to Mercy Clermont Hospital. Joe was pronounced dead at 2:43 pm. Joe was having status seizures that could not be controlled with medication, which robbed his brain of oxygen and subsequently caused his heart to stop beating.

Joe was born March 3, 1959 at Good Samaritan Hospital to his parents, Lois Jean Warman (nee Metzner) and Ronald Leroy Hamilton. He lived in the Western Hills area most of his life, moving to New Richmond in the 1980's. Joe was a carpenter by trade prior to his injury at work which rendered him unable to work any longer. He also was trained to install carpet, build barns, homes, and a myriad of other talents including working as a home mechanic alongside his brother, Ron.

Survivors include his devoted parents, Lois Jean Warman and Ronald Leroy Hamilton; his treasured daughter, Heather Hamilton; Joe's extended family, (Heather's siblings) Micah, Nicky and Amber; his dearly loved son, Joseph; his beloved brother, Ronald W. Hamilton (Melissa); his irreplaceable loving sister, Carol A. Cornes (commonly referred to as "my little blister"); his nieces, Candy Cornes, and Jackie Cornes; nephews, Ronald Hamilton, Jimmy Hamilton, Brian Hamilton, Michael Lykins, and Joey Lykins; his special aunt, Dodie Brockman; together with a host of cousins, too numerous to mention; and not to be forgotten, that special childhood friend, Mark Jordan, who religiously visited Joe and helped throughout his traumatic brain injury and subsequently anoxic brain injury.

Those who have predeceased him include his grandparents, aunts and uncles, a brother-in-law, and only recently his cousin, David Metzner. David died exactly one day (almost to the hour) before Joe. It has been reported that Joe and David have been seen at Heavenly Way and Angel Street dancing on the streets that are golden, now totally restored!

Memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to: Children's Brain Injury Association, Inc., 40 Garmen Rd., Hiram, GA 31401.
