Joseph Daniel May, a devoted and steadfast believer in the Lord, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in Kentucky at the age of 93, just a few months shy of his 94th birthday. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith.

Joseph was a beacon of light to all who knew him. His deep and abiding faith in the Lord was the guiding force of his life. His greatest joy was spreading the Word of the lord.

Joseph is preceded in death by his first wife Katherine Eileen Zedar and daughters, Sandra and Kristal.

Joseph was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Joe is survived by his loving spouse, Janice "Lory" Pate; brothers, Walter and Kenneth; daughters, Cheryl and Erika; grandchildren, Joe Dugas, Jason, Rachel, Gregory, and Dominic Mesagna, Joshua, Daniel, Valerie, and Nathaniel Darnall, and Mathew and Victoria Goodman; 6 great-grandchildren, Noah and Skye Cruz, Isabella and Lincoln Mesagna, Sylphrena Mesagna, and Anna Goodman.

Joseph was born on December 24, 1929 in North Carolina, but spent the majority of his life in Virginia and Texas.

Joseph was a dedicated patriot who proudly served is country in the United States Air Force for 25 years. He grew up with a deep sense of duty and love for his country. He served in various assignments around the world, including South Korea, Turkey, Thailand, and West Germany. His experience abroad have sparked an interest in travel among his children and grandchildren.

Joseph had many artistic talents and pursued hobbies such as photography, oil painting, woodworking, model car building, and fiction writing. As a young man, he also wrote and edited a weekly newsletter for the Knights of Columbus religious organization, and was actively involved in the Parent Teacher Association at his children's school.

Joseph's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and his legacy of faith will inspire other believers. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by his loved ones who passed before, embraced by the love of the Lord he held so dear.

Joseph will be laid to rest at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - North in Williamstown, Kentucky at a later date.
