Julia Margaret White, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on February 24, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, Julia lived a life defined by her unwavering devotion to family, faith, and the joy of simple pleasures.
A proud mother and doting grandmother, Julia's warm heart endeared her to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was known for her great cooking, always ready to provide a welcoming meal that gathered her family around the table. Her legacy continues to live through her daughter, Kimberly (Daniel) Ryles, and grandchildren Christina (Gabe) Faulkner, Douglas Ryles, Jennifer (Chris) Bukas, and Amanda Ryles. Julia also shared a special bond with her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter, Thomas, Connor, and Lynn, who were a constant source of joy in her life.
Julia had a remarkable career as a barber and a school bus driver, where she touched the lives of many. Always one to lend a helping hand, Julia was known for her generous nature, ever willing to do anything for anyone. Her friends and family knew they could count on her in their times of need, a testament to her selfless character.
Aside from her nurturing spirit, Julia was a dedicated person of faith, never hesitant to ask if someone attended church or knew Jesus. This important aspect of her life shaped her values and her approach to community, bringing people together in love and support.
Julia's life was filled with outdoor adventures, as she enjoyed spending time with her late husband, Jim. Together, they created beautiful memories fishing, hunting, camping, and cherry picking. Additionally, Julia found solace and joy in her hobbies of sewing and crocheting, which often resulted in heartfelt gifts for her loved ones.
Preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Bopst and John Bechtel; her son, Ellwood Grube, Jr.; her husband, James L. White; and her sister, Margaret, Julia leaves behind a treasured legacy within her family, including her brothers, Jackie and Jerry, and a host of other family members and friends whose lives she enriched with her kindness.
Julia Margaret White’s spirit will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memories will continue to inspire love, generosity, and faith in the lives she touched.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4pm - 6pm at Florence Baptist Temple. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation.
