Karin Carboy

CARBOY, Karin H., age 71 of Fairfield Township passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2015 at the West Chester Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20, 1944 in Magdeburg, Germany, to Maria Lederer Risch and Kurt Risch. After the war, Karin emigrated to the United States at 8 years old with her mother, Maria and step-father, John P. Failla, a career military Signal Corps Specialist. Karin became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen, and traveled with her parents to many foreign lands, while attending Military Schools outside of the U.S. She returned to their home in Oakhurst, New Jersey, to attend the last year of her high school education. Karin and her husband, John W. Carboy, plus their two children, Lisa and Bill, relocated to Ohio in 1977, where they have lived ever since. Karin was always involved with many charity organizations wherever they lived, and always found time to assist and comfort family and friends with personal health and family difficulties.


She was preceded in death by her loving step-father, John P. Failla. Karin is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John W. Carboy; beloved children, Lisa Carboy Kuethe and her husband Joseph and William J. Carboy and his wife Christy Sapp Carboy; grandchildren, Natalie and Lance; mother, Maria Failla; brother, Paul J. Failla; niece, Anna Failla; and a host of other family members and friends associated with the Women of Walden Ponds Club, whom she dearly loved.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5-8 pm and on Friday from 12 noon – 1 pm, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

It was Karin's wish that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, "In Memory of Karin Carboy," to the Fairfield Community Foundation, 5340 Pleasant Ave., Fairfield, Ohio 45014.
