Today is a day to rejoice and be thankful, to have been able to love, know and experience the life of Katherine Bragg.
Mrs. Katherine Bragg, the daughter of Mr. Joel Clarence Battle and Mrs. Pearle Ernestine Battle was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 23, 1933.
Katherine's family left Columbus and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Ramah Seventh Day Adventist Junior Academy and preceded to go to Central High School and graduated at the age of 17.
Katherine had a very full, prosperous and blessed life. In 1957 Katherine left Cleveland and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she joined Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Katherine was known to most people as, "Moma K, Big Wheel, Kat" and to business folks she was known as Katherine with a K., departed this life on August 23, 2012 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Some of her many interests were basketball, baseball, football, sewing and cooking. People would say her fried chicken was her signature dish.
Katherine worked at various places when she came to Cincinnati. She worked at Henry Harris, she was a home care provider, a seamstress and was also an employee at Jack Ruby.
Even though her sight was taken from her in 1986, caused by Glaucoma, she still held on to her independence, her spirit and her love for life.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Jaycee Birens; one son, David Anthony Battle; her parents, Mr. Joel Battle and Mrs. Pearle Battle; four sisters, Daisy Johnson, Hazel Steiginar, Cassie Graham and Mattie Ford and one brother, Calvin Battle.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, one granddaughter, Cathy Marie Gill (Cincinnati, OH); one great grandson, David Gill (Cincinnati, OH); one sister, Mary Lou Hemingway (Louisville, KY); two brothers, Felix Battle (Harvest, AL) and Henry (Elza) Battle, (Cleveland, OH); god-son, John Johnson; two home care providers, Reesie Freeman and Ernestine Lowery; two close friends, Sylvia Simmons, Phyllis Shore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
