Katherine Long Smith

Smith, Katherine Long age 92, of Roselawn, Ohio went Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 20, 1924 to Jessie and Jesse Mae Long (nee Owsley).

Katherine's mother died when Katherine was 18 years old. As a result, she took on the responsibility of raising her six siblings, as well as her own four children. The family would like to honor her for commitment and dedication to help shape the lives of so many family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Victoria Russell; grandson, Keith A. Russell; four brothers and three sisters. Katherine is survived by her beloved children, Barbara A. Garvin, Alfonzo (Ethel) Smith, Sr., Gail C. Smith; grandchildren, Kevin Russell, Sharon D. Rucker, Ethel L. (Clifford) Suttles, Regina Russell, Alfonzo Smith, Jr., Alex R. Smith, Dwayne A. (Kimberly) Smith, Jared Q. Garvin; sister, Earnestine Clifford; and a host of other nieces and nephews as well as a many friends.

In loving memory of Katherine, contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Friday, September 16, 2016 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
