Kevin Morehouse

January 26, 1954 — October 25, 2019

Kevin Morehouse, 65, died peacefully on October 25, 2019 at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. In his final weeks Kevin was surrounded by the love of his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends, sharing hugs, stories, and laughter. Kevin was born in Cincinnati, Ohio at Jewish Hospital on January 26, 1954, to the late Lou and Mildred Morehouse.

Kevin was a loving husband, brother, devoted and generous father, grandfather.

He loved preparing food for his family and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.

His integrity, kindness and witty personality touched everyone's heart and made us all better people.

His favorite past time was to spend time outdoors from a small child. He was an avid golfer, bow hunter and fly fisherman.

He retired from the Sanibel Island Police Department.

Kevin is survived by his wife Holly Johnson; four sons, Lucas Morehouse, Cory Kirker (Courtney), Casey Wayne Kirker (Vanessa) and Kevin Hunter Morehouse; grandchildren Riley Kirker, Laila Humphrey, Rinn Kirker, Reese Kirker, Mila Kirker; Two sisters Susan (Brad) Welborn and Laura (Tony) Balog and several nieces and nephews; Kevin leaves behind lots of very dear cousins and lifelong friends Billy Dalton, Orville "Cuz" Kelch and John Zeilman.

We will always be reminded that eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Memorial of Life celebration services will be at a later date. Memorials can be made by donating to Hoxworth Blood Center, Be The Match – The National Marrow Donor Program, or The Tri-State Southern Ohio - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Testament of a Fisherman

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs that trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly; because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties and assorted social posturing I thus escape; because, in a world where most men spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience; because I suspect that men are going along this way for the last time, and I for one don't want to waste the trip; because mercifully there are no telephones on fishing waters; because only in the woods can I find solitude without loneliness; because bourbon out of an old tin cup tastes better out there; because maybe someday I will catch a mermaid; and, finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many other concerns of men are equally unimportant -- and not nearly so much fun" - Robert Traver. 1964
