CALLAHAN, Larry J., age 76 of Cincinnati passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015. He was born in Odon, Indiana on June 8, 1939 the son of George and Zella (Morrison) Callahan. Larry served in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1962; he retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a conductor; a member of the Western Hills – Cheviot Lodge #140 F&AM, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Cincinnati Syrian Shriners; and a Cub Scout Master for Pack #44. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, shooting, researching genealogy, reading and loved his dog Buddy. On August 19, 1961 in Cincinnati he married Barbara Levy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Albert Callahan; his sister, Myra Carroza; and his father-in-law, Edward Levy. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Callahan; his two daughters, Lynne Callahan and Julie Callahan; his son, Larry Callahan and his wife Kathleen; six grandchildren, Reanna Payano-Acosta and her husband Ricardo, Nicki McIlrath and her husband Tod, Jacob French, Liam Callahan, Dillan Callahan, and Sean Callahan; four great-grandchildren, Corey Bland, Katelyn Brown, Lillian Walke, and Eva McIlrath; his sister, Marcia Hicks and her husband Stanley; his sister-in-law, Carole Green and her husband Jim; his brother-in-law, Robert Levy and his wife Sandy; his mother-in-law, Del Levy; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3300 Parkcrest Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211 on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 4:00 pm with Pastor Rick Bell officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm.
