On September 20, 2011 God called home, with a whisper, one of his saints to eternal rest and peace. Lewis Roper was born on August 9, 1920 in Honoraville, Alabama. Lewis was the seventh child born to the proud parents of Isaih and Frances Roper. Lewis accepted Christ at an early age. He moved to Cincinnati with his wife and childhood sweetheart, Mary E. Roper (Peterson). They were united in the holy bonds of matrimony on July 4, 1942 this bond lasted 55 years until Mary was called home to heaven on April 26, 1997. They were blessed with one loving daughter, Lenora Michell (Roper) Coleman, who was also called home to heaven on September 12, 1996. Lewis loved his family and friends very much. He and Mary loved to party. They would listen to the blues and dance all night. Lewis worked as a laborer at the Reading Rock Ready Mix Concrete Company for more than 30 years where he retired. Lewis leaves to cherish his memory his granddaughter, Genesis Angel Coleman of Atlanta, Georgia; special nephew and Lewis's caregiver for the last 15 years, Michael E Martin Sr. (Darnise) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother-in-law Nero Peterson (Delores) of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters-in-laws, Essie Mae Roper of Cincinnati, Ohio and Elane Althea Roper of Cincinnati, Ohio; special cousin Marvin Roper of Cincinnati, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Visitation on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 9:30 am until service time of 10:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy.
