Lillian Ruth Jefferson was born on April 9, 1929 to the late William Dixon and Grace Dixon in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She was very young when the family moved from Tennessee to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Lillian married John Thomas Jefferson Sr. in 1977. To this union they had Charles Spellman (deceased), Larry Spellman, Raymond Spellman (deceased), Jerry Ingguls, John Thomas Jefferson Jr., Darrell Jefferson, Venita Cephas (Michael), Debra Jean Jefferson, Reshawn Jefferson, Maurice Jefferson, La Tonya Jefferson.
Lillian attended Woodward High School. Lillian also had various jobs, but she worked the longest at the Chiquita building. She would often go to her favorite place to eat, Gold Star Chili, after a long day of work.
Lillian was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at True Church of Jesus Christ in 1995. She loved to go to Sunday school and hear Deacon Maurice Lee teach. She would often sit and talk with the late Mother Elizabeth Cohen.
In her spare time Lillian loved to play Bingo and Pokeno with family and friends.
Lillian departed this earthly life on Good Friday, March 25, 2016 with her family close to her. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Grace Dixon; her husband, John Jefferson Sr.; two sons, Charles and Raymond Spellman; two sisters, Margaret and Shirley Mae; and two grandsons, Michael Cephas Jr. and Darrell Jefferson Jr.
Lillian leaves to cherish her memory six sons, Larry, Reshawn, Maurice, Jerry, John and Darrell; three daughters, Venita, Debra and La Tonya; daughter-in-law, Bobbi Jean Spellman; one brother, Donald (Ruth); one sister, Doris (Willie); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In her last days she was cared for by Deacon Pete Roper. He was like a son to her and a very good friend. She was also loved by Diana Carter whom she was affectionately named "Grandma" by the entire Carter family.
