Lorene Mullins

July 26, 1933 — January 4, 2024

Addie Lorene Mullins (née Yaden) passed away peacefully, in her home surrounded by family, on January 4, 2024. She was 90 years old. Lorene was born July 26, 1933, in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late John Paul Yaden and Cora Belle Yaden (née Overbey).

Lorene was preceded in death by husband James Mullins, daughter's Donna Merritt, Carol Gadrick, Myra Awai, and Bobby Lee Merritt, former spouse and friend. She is survived by children: Mary Merritt Hub, Ramona Brenner (Mike), Alice "Janie" Makowski (Robert), Linda Noel (Dale),

Darrell Mullins, Laura Norris (Larry), and sister Kathleen Cannon, 20 Grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, dear friends Alice Keller and Charles Merritt.

Lorene was blessed with five daughters; Mary, Ramona, Alice "Janie", Donna, and Linda. Each daughter inheriting her loving spirit and contagious smile. After several moves, Lorene and the girls settled in Northern Kentucky. She married James Mullins and welcomed her new stepchildren (Darrell, Carol, Myra and Laura) with open arms, loving them as her own. Lorene worked for years at Van Leunens department store in housewares, eventually retired from Christian Care Center in Florence, where she was not only the cook, she was a "work Mom" for many for 32 years.

Lorene's home was always open to family and friends, any time, day or night. Some would call it "Grand Central Station", as it was always a hub of activity, a home base for those who moved away- the place to come home to. She loved celebrating holidays by cooking for the family. Her home was always full, and all were welcomed around her table…even if it meant sitting at the "Kids Table". She loved to sit in her chair and watch out the front door, always getting up to wave Bye as family left (and beeped twice). She filled her home with her "collections" (it's not junk), but her family…well, that was her "good stuff".

Lorene was many things: daughter, sister, mother, Mamaw, Banny, and Aunt, above all, she was loved. Her gift was saintly patience, and her passion was family.

A private funeral service and interment will be held in London, KY, for immediate family at the convenience of the family.
