Louis G. Smith

Louis Gilbert Smith, age 82, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on July 7, 1938 to Ardell and Essie Smith (nee Patton).

Lou graduated from the Norwood High School culinary program. He was a chef at Netherland Hilton in Cincinnati, and also worked as a chef at Floyd One East and Zeno's Pizza. He also owned his own cleaning company.

Lou loved being with friends and family, and he especially loved grilling out at the Smith Family reunion every year. His kids will fondly remember their father making the best pizza during their childhood. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Kemen Smith; son, Louis Michael Smith; grandson, Louis Eugene Wimmer; parents, Ardell and Essie Smith; siblings, Willo Dean Mounce, Harald Smith, Mart Smith, Garrett (Rex) Smith, and Nancy Eaton.

Louis is survived by his beloved daughter, Cindy Ann (Mark) Bastin; son, Gregory (Connie) Smith; grandchildren, Eric O. (Amanda) Trautman, Jr., Stacy (Steven) McWhorter, Sabrina Smith, Devan (Matthew) Fitzgerald, and Brannon Paredes; step-children, Donna Miller, Della (John) Hieleman, Jan Kemen, Debbie (Martin) Gerdes, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

The Funeral Ceremony will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 21, 2021 with a visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231, with Pastor Harold Cottom officiating. He will be inurned at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
