STALEY, Loyd J. age 92, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was born in Stearns, Kentucky on January 3, 1923 to James and Millie Staley (nee Thompson).
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Clyda O'Leary; brother, Elmer Staley. Loyd is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara Staley (nee Spencer); children, Vinson Staley, Patti Staley, Mark Stewart, Joel (Rose) Stewart, Michael (Diana) Staley, Jen (Bill) Alvarez; grandchildren, Michael Staley, Elijah Staley, Mick Staley, Philena Schuman, Danyel Staley, Brandon Staley, Zach Alvarez, Graham Alvarez; great-grandchildren, Briella Staley, DJ Downing; sister, Dorothy Burton; sister-in-law, Gerry (Don) Grubb; and a host of other family members and friends.
Loyd served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a loader in the 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion seeing action in Normandy, France (D-Day +6), Germany, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Loyd retired after 39 years from General Motors, Fisher Body Plant, where he was a metal finisher. He was a long-time member (over 70 years) of the Central Parkway Church of God, and was a faithful, committed, Christian man. He dearly loved his Savior Jesus, his family, his church, and his country. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassion Cincinnati, c/o Central Parkway Church of God.
Funeral Ceremony will be at 11:00 am Monday, May 18, 2015 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Central Parkway Church of God, 3220 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45225.
