Luvenia Mack, affectionately known as "Lou", was born on August 28, 1914 in Newton County Georgia to the late Willie and Susie (Shy) Bryant. She was the eldest child of three. Her sisters, Marie Jackson, Juanita Whitfield and husband Herbert V. Mack preceded her in death.
Lou attended Dixie High School in Covington, Georgia. Her mother believed in education so she encouraged her to read, to sew and to cook. As a result, Lou learned t do all three very well. You would often find her catering many birthday parties and weddings.
Lou was baptized and joined the Union Grove Church at an early age. After she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, she united with the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church in 1940 under the pastorate of the late P.L. Herod.
In 1960, Lou married Herbert, whom she loved very much. No children were born to this union; however, they shared their love for God to many.
Lou was the president of the Nursing Guild, chairperson of anniversaries, and member of the Mother Thomas Club, Club #3; bereavement committee, Mass Choir and Vocal Chorus. Lou actively participated not only by singing but by using her art of cooking to help when meals needed to be prepared at church or a the Ohio, Indiana, Michigan Vocal Singing conventions and the Cincinnati Vocal Union programs.
In 2000, Lou became a resident of the Woods Edge Pointe Nursing Home. She started a Bible class there and it has been a blessing to the residents and many others. Lou loved the Bible and studied it every day. She encouraged the residents and staff through her commitment to God. Even though her health began to fail, she stayed busy by reading God's word, making quilts and making Jesus Christ's crosses in the pocket that have been sent all over the country and to Africa.
