Manuel Eugene "Gene" Bailey of Cold Spring, Kentucky, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024 due to complications of pulmonary fibrosis.
Gene was the son of the late Manuel J. and Alma Craycroft Bailey. His infant brother, Manuel J. Bailey Jr., passed away in 1945. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Nancy Bolinger (James) Eddy. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Linda Bolinger Bailey, brother-in-law Jackson (Beth) Bolinger, nieces Melissa Eddy (Derrick) Shelby and Madison Bolinger, nephews Nathaniel Eddy and Burke Bolinger, great-nephew Isaac Shelby, and many loving cousins, "adopted" family, and friends he loved dearly. He was especially proud to be the honorary grandfather of Wolfgang Barker.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 16, 1949, Gene moved to the Cincinnati area after graduating from the University of Notre Dame's undergraduate and MBA programs. Gene joined Procter & Gamble in 1973, where he spent his career as an IT manager until his retirement in 2001.
Gene continued to enjoy his family fishing trips, bourbon tastings with friends - especially his beloved Bourbon boys - and his love for rock and roll music throughout his life. He would spend days preparing for monthly music challenges with his friends, and loved his Skyline group lunches and Eggs Benedict breakfasts.
In recent years, Gene became an avid collector of vinyl records across all genres and would spend hours combing record stores to add to his collection. He made wonderful playlists he enjoyed sharing at every opportunity, especially his annual Derby Day celebrations.
Per Gene's wishes, there will be no service at this time. Donations are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the charity of your choice.
