Marian ("Mae") Waller was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 10, 1936. Her father, and her Mother, Ruby Bryant, both preceded her in death. Marian was the third of five children. She answered the call of the Almighty God to come and dwell in His House of Eternal Rest at the age of 76 on December 30, 2012.
Marian was baptized by Reverend Carl P. Adkins at Golden Leaf Baptist Church, where she remained a very active member. Marian enjoyed attending Church services every Sunday. She also loved music and song and expressed her love for both as a soprano in the Church Choir. She also enjoyed participating in various Church activities.
Marian grew up in the Findlay Street neighborhood area and graduated from "old" Woodward High School with high honors in 1954. While in high school Marian received numerous scholastic, academic and merit honors for high achievement, as well as awards for her distinguished artistic ability, including her acting, dancing and singing. During her attendance at Woodward, Marian expressed her love for acting, music, and song as a participant in the Hi-capades performances, for which she received notable mentions from the local media. Marian's singing ability led her to perform at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Marian was involved in various community activities in her neighborhood of College Hill. She was a den mother for a local Cub Scout troop, as well as an active participant in various community activities. Marian had numerous hobbies, including sewing, clothing design, fashion, and reading. Marian was known by her close friends as "Mae," and all who met and came to know her realized she was highly intelligent, blessed with a strong spiritual gift and a passionate heart. Family was of utmost importance to Marian, and she devoted her life to her children. She was a beautiful, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marian would constantly seek to inspire and uplift her children and grandchildren by providing them with hand-written Biblical scriptures on note cards.
Marian worked for several years at the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) located at Ezzard Charles Drive as an administrative assistant. Marian also worked as an administrative assistant for the University of Cincinnati, where she supported multiple professors in various departments. Marian retired from Macys department stores after 15 plus years of service. While with Macys, she received many awards and accolades for her outstanding customer service. After her retirement, Marian worked at the National Underground Railroad Center in an administrative capacity for a short time.
To know Marian was to know a truly genuine person who loved her family and friends. Marian was one to lend a helping hand and was always able to make anyone in her presence smile and laugh. Marian's legacy is one to be proud of, but more importantly to be encouraged that through Christ all things are possible. As strong as Marian walked in her physical life on earth, we are assured that out of all of her many achievements, her most crowning was that of complete submission, when she answered God's call to spend her eternity in Heaven above. Although Marian will be truly missed, it is in faith that she is truly free now and one with the Lord.
Marian leaves to cherish her beloved memory: siblings, Claudia Saunders, James Waller, and Michael Johnson; children, Wanda Mansoor, Sharon Wilson, and Frederick Wolf, Jr.; grandchildren, Raeshon Mansoor, Vonnell Taylor, Miniko Taylor, Darenn Mansoor, LaNina Wilson, Stacey Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Makayla Taylor, and Amani Mansoor.
