Marie E. Burt

Marie E. Burt was born on February 6, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Aldo and Arilla Smith. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burt (1999) of 52 years. Marie departed this life on February 3, 2012 at the age of 86.

"Aunt Marie" enjoyed bingo, traveling and cooking. She was most happy when she was preparing food for family gatherings or baking her delicious cakes. Food was an expression of her love and this was evident when you came to her home, she always offered you something to eat and would not take "no thanks" for an answer.

Marie attended her first Presidential Inauguration in 2008 with her grandchildren and other family members. This was a very proud moment in her life. Marie loved to be around her family, she always looked forward to seeing "the gang from Chicago". Thanks to her nephew, Howard (Butch), Marie was even becoming a fan of technology, as she tried to figure out "face time" and how they could see her, she was amazed.

Family Reunion time was her favorite time of the year. She could always be found in the lobby of the hotels, waiting anxiously to see her family. Marie was "Auntie", Big T, Cousin, Grandma, Mom, Sister, Mentor and friend, she had a way of making everyone feel special and this was her gift.

Marie is remembered lovingly by, one daughter, Lisa Marie; two grandchildren, Leon Alexander "Alex" and Alexis Marie; one sister, Jessie M. Ford and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.


Memorial service for Marie Elizabeth Burt, age 86 of Cincinnati, will be Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home - Hamilton Chapel. Family members will officiate.
