Martha J. Kyles

KYLES, Martha J., age 80, of Cincinnati, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. She was born January 27, 1933 in Sunflower, Mississippi, the daughter of Murry and Vergie (Childs) Vortice. On March, 19, 1950 she married Will Kyles, in Sunflower, Mississippi.

Martha was a strong, dedicated and hardworking person. For many years she was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital. In 1996 she became employed by Cincinnati Children's Hospital until her retirement in August of 2013. In her spare time she was an avid gardener, especially when it came to her plants and roses. Martha was always hospitable and loved to cook. When you came to visit her, she would always have a big spread and loved to be a host to her family and friends. She loved her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, they were her life. Martha would always tell her family how important it was to be independent and self-motivated in order to succeed in life. In the words of Martha, "before you leave home in the morning, also look in the mirror and have a talk with Jesus."

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Will Otis Kyles Sr.; children, Will Otis Kyles Jr. and Ophelia Kyles. Martha is survived by her children, Jerry (Joyce) Kyles, Oatis Anne (Eddie) Kyles-Fisher, Tim Kyles, Terri (Jack, deceased) Smith, Alice Kitouni; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
