Mary Marlene Cruse, a beloved sister, aunt, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, in Edgewood, Kentucky, at the age of 78. Born on August 7, 1946, in Boone County, Kentucky, Marlene was a spirited individual whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marlene dedicated twenty years of her professional life to DHL, where she was known for her work ethic, dedication, and friendly demeanor. Upon her retirement, she embraced the joys of life beyond the workplace, nurturing her passions and interests that brought her happiness.

For over 15 years, Marlene was a devoted member of the Northern Kentucky Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith and love for her church family filled her life with purpose and community. She found great solace and strength in her belief, and her connections to her fellow congregants were a testament to her generous spirit.

Marlene held a deep affection for the outdoors; she loved to spend her days working in the yard around her cherished farm until she became ill. Nature was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and delight. Her love for her dogs was equally profound; they were not just pets but companions who shared her life and brought her joy.

A devoted aunt, Marlene doted on her numerous nieces and nephews, taking great pride in their accomplishments and nurturing the bonds they shared. Her spirit of love and support resonated through family gatherings and celebrations, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family members.

Marlene is survived by her sisters, Angie Herrmann and Nadine Kidd, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loved ones who will carry her spirit forward in their lives. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith is a treasure that will forever remain in the hearts of those she embraced.

Marlene was preceded in death by her father, Charley Murphy Ferguson, mother, Ethel Ferguson (nee Creekmore), and her brothers, Jerry, Sammy Lee, and Kenneth Ferguson. Though their absence leaves an ache in her family's heart, the memories they created together will eternally shine bright.

A private graveside service will take place at Hughes Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene's name are suggested to the Bible Outreach program at Northern Kentucky Baptist Church, 2681 Turkeyfoot Road, Lakeside Park, KY 41017.

As we reflect on Marlene's life, we remember her laughter, her strength, and her unwavering love. She leaves behind a world that is better for having had her in it, and a family that will forever cherish her memory.
