Mary Elizabeth Darby, nee Snelling, left us without warning on Monday morning, October 28th.
Mary was born in 1949 and grew up on the creek outside of Burlington. She was the middle child and sister to two older and two younger brothers (Mike, Bob, Dusty and Huey). Her parents were Albert and Rebecca Snelling.
Mary was an avid gardener, skilled florist and roundabout force of nature. There wasn’t a holiday she wasn’t prepared to decorate for. Her sausage gravy, egg noodles, and no bake cookies from scratch were legendary. Her chili was okay. Overall, Mary loved to enjoy a good laugh and was never too shy to share her clever wit with a sparkle in her eye.
Mary retired several years ago after a tenured career at the Cincinnati airport where she had many friends who will miss her dearly. Her unexpected departure will leave a void in the many who adored her.
Mary is survived by her sons, Andy Darby (Kathy) of Oviedo, and Tim Darby of New Orleans. Her grandchildren include Connor, Logan, McKenna, and honorary grandchild Taylor Veneman. Mary’s late husband, Dennis Robert Darby, passed in 1996.
