Montgomery, Mary Lee age 74, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 7, 1947 to William Lee and Marie Montgomery (nee Simmons).
Mary was born and raised in the West End of Cincinnati. She worked as a home nurse aide at many places such as UC Medical Hospital and the Drake Center. Mary eventually became a home health aide because of the flexibility of the schedule. She continued this until retirement in 2009. Mary lived in the North Avondale area to be close to her mother. After her mother passed, Mary lived in Bond Hill and Pleasant Ridge. She eventually settled in the NCH/Mt. Healthy community.
Mary was a good bowler and picked up on it very fast. She joined a bowling league her first year and was awarded "Most Improved" by her team. Mary also beat the team captain many times. She was an avid reader. Mary's favorite type of books were crime and mystery stories. Her favorite authors were VC Andrews and Agatha Christie.
Mary always loved a good party. She would surprise many with her quick wit and funny expressions. Mary was willing to try anything new, especially with her grandchildren. It could be a new card game, a new board game, or a video game. She was also a great crossword puzzler, and rarely used a pencil. She could figure out any crossword puzzle in any newspaper or magazine.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Lee Montgomery; mother, Marie Carthen; and her sister, Jacqueline Jordan. Mary is survived by her beloved son, William L. (Delores) Montgomery; her sister, Dorothy E. Reese; her grandchildren, Savannah and Isaiah Montgomery; her brother-in-law, Ronald Jordan; her nephews, Jason (Tiffany) Jordan and Charles Reese; and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 6, 2021 Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
