Mildred Washington

Washington, Mildred, age 88, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015. She was born on May 2, 1927 as Artie Whitehead in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Her parents were Joe and Eva Whitehead (nee Jenkins). She was the second oldest of 13 children. Her siblings were Perry Whitehead Tuff (deceased), Bishop James Whitehead, Clarence Whitehead, Joseph Whitehead (deceased) Carrie Mae Whitehead Harris, Lucille Whitehead Pope, Josephine Whitehead Arnold, Pinkie Lee Whitehead Brown, Elizabeth Betty Whitehead (deceased), George Whitehead, Ronnie Whitehead, and Connie Whitehead.

On November 5, 1945 she married John Washington, Sr. and to this marital union there were born 8 children. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late John Washington, Sr.; devoted mother of John, Jr., Larry, Rosemary Tate, Clarence (Rebecca), Brenda Frye (Rene'), Eric (Yvonne), Curtis (Jodie) and the late Anthony Washington. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mildred was baptized as one of Jehovah's witnesses on July 4, 1992. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. Her kind and generous spirit will be missed.


Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 5, 2016 with a visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 7830 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231.
