Nathan Ulmer, Sr. was born to the late Oliver and Pearlie Ulmer on December 18, 1924 in Panola, Alabama. He departed this life on March 3, 2012 at the age of 87. He served in the United States Army from 1941-1944 and was also a member of the Local 265.
He accepted Christ at an early age and he loved the Lord. Nathan worked in the construction industry and retired on January 1, 1987.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Ernestine Ulmer, by his two children Nathan Jr. and Ronald Williams by his granddaughters Nadine Harris, Eugenia Gordon and April Howard and one grandson Derrick Devine.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters Carrie Knox, Estelle Davis, Lillie Hayes, Ruby Welch, Josephine Ulmer and four brothers, Ben, John, Lawrence and Ed Ulmer.
Nathan leaves to cherish his memory one brother Damon (Helen)Ulmer, seven children: Shirley (Bill() Lindsey, Brenda (Paul) Ellery, Delorse Howard, Karen (Odell) Boykins-Lyons, Dianna (Artice) Williams, Nate (Valerie)Ulmer, Robert Ulmer and two brother in laws McKinley Reed and Clifton Burton.
He also leaves behind 25 wonderful grandchildren: Lionel, Kenneth, Tommy, John Shawn, Donnie, Dennis, Margaret, Rhonda, Shuntell, Brandy, Porscha, DeJaz, Nikki, Paul, Diane, Stephanie, Nathaniel, Antonio, Ronald, Rechah, Corie, Veronica, Chavonna and Myquia. He also leaves behind 70 great-grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
