Nellye Mae Booker was born August 20, 1930 to the late Rufus and Dennie Davis. On December 21, 2013, she parted this life in a restful sleep. Nellye was born in Aflex, Kentucky. She was raised in Williamson, West Virginia, where she got her education, and graduated from Liberty High School in 1948. She married the late Anderson Booker II, and to this union was born five children.
She moved her family to Cincinnati Ohio in 1961 and worked as a Nurse Aide. She later went to nursing school and graduated as an LPN from St. Francis School of Nursing and worked there until she retired.
Nellye enjoyed playing softball and taking her children to the park after church on Sundays. She was an avid Bingo player, and would go as often as possible all around town with her Bingo buddies. She had a rare and interesting sense of humor.
Nellye was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by five generations. She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers; five sisters; her youngest son; and one great grandson. She leaves to cherish her memory Maribelle McDougle of Reform, Alabama; daughter Jean Lyles of Cincinnati, Ohio; Carey Booker of Cincinnati, Ohio; Anderson Booker III and wife Rosalind of Everett, Washington; CasSandra Booker-Drake of San Bernardino, California; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
