Orlean Randolph

August 19, 1943 — July 16, 2014

RANDOLPH, Orlean Morton, age 70, died at Mercy Health Center West, Cincinnati, Ohio on July 16, 2014, due to complications of Alzheimer's syndrome and dementia.

Orlean was born on August 19, 1943 in Gee's Bend, Alabama, to Vaughn Sr. and Earsie Morton. The family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1954 where she attended Lafayette Bloom Elementary School and graduated from Robert A. Taft High School in 1961. Orlean was selected to participate in the Licensed Practical Nurse Program offered by Cincinnati General Hospital. Upon completion of this program, she received her L.P.N. certification and began working at Cincinnati Drake Hospital. While working at Drake Hospital she met the love of her life Walter "Snookie" Randolph II and they were married on September 19th 1964. Of this union three children were born; Walter Randolph III, William Charles Randolph and Tina Latiche Randolph-Taylor.

She lived in Rossmoyne, Kennedy Heights, Springdale and Forest Park, Ohio and worked as a Private Duty Nurse until returning to college in 1996. In 1998 she graduated from Union College with bachelors' degree in Social Work and accepted a position at the Cincinnati Alzheimer's Association as a counselor until 2002 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's syndrome.

Orlean was a God fearing, active member of Second Baptist Church of Rossmoyne, Ohio, New Jerusalem Baptist Church and Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church. She was a member of Cincinnati Women's Major Bowling League, Bid Whist Card Playing Club and a host of other social clubs. She was a dynamic wife, mother, sister and friend will be especially remembered for her incredible smile, kind spirit, open heart, amazing meals, charitable donations, and support of various neighborhood activities, card tournaments, fishing trips and being the overall neighborhood mother. Her gems of advice have guided men and women to success in various walks of life.

Survivors include her son Walter Randolph III, son William Charles Randolph and daughter Tina Latiche Randolph-Taylor; brothers, Vince Morton Sr., Vaughn Morton Jr., Janks Morton (Odessa) and Richard Bates (Carolyn); sister-in-law Roberta Randolph-Barnes (Lloyd); aunt Mary Kate Coleman; grandchildren, Joshua Randolph, Adam Randolph, Christina Ates-Gipson, Tia Miller, Tamia Miller, Demarcus Taylor, Diego Taylor and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Snookie" Randolph II; parents, Vaughn Sr. and Earsie Morton; and sister, Bertha Morton-Pettway.

Services will be held at on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 11:00 am at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, 10998 Southland Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45240. Relatives and friends are welcome from 10:00 am to 11:00 am for visitation that same day at the church. Interment will be at 2:00 pm on July 23, 2014, at Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio, 45428.
