Oscar James Minter, Jr. was born September 20, 1924 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Oscar James Minter, Sr. and Annie Mack Minter.
He was the oldest of two children. Oscar's mother passed away when he was young. His grandmother, the late Jossie Mack of Cincinnati, Ohio assumed the responsibility for his care.
Oscar married Elsie Minter in 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio and to this union they were blessed with three sons; Oscar James Minter III, Marcus Anthony Minter and Rodney Eugene Minter. Oscar and Elsie divorced in 1959. Oscar then married the late Mary Magdalene Vaughn on September 16, 1961 in Cincinnati, Ohio and to this union, they were blessed with their only son, Marc Eliot Minter.
Oscar was a member of Mt. Zion Woodlawn in his early adult life. He was a charter member of the Allegro Choir. Oscar was a faithful member of Fresh Anointing Ministries for 5 years. He was a member of Men's Ministry, Shepherd Keepers, and an honorary member of the Usher Board.
Oscar was educated in the Lockland and Wyoming school system. He was a waiter on the B&O Railroad for 12 years and a dockworker for Roadway Trucking Express Company for 18 years.
Oscar James Minter, Jr. leaves to cherish his precious memories: four sons, Oscar Minter III of Denver, Colorado, Marcus A Minter of San Diego, California, Rodney E. Minter and Marc Eliot Minter; six grandchildren, Alisa, Marc II, Elton, Lindsay, Sterling, and Jared.
