Paul V. Oliver

Paul V. Oliver, 93, of Latonia, KY passed away on August 16, 2013 at his home in Cincinnati, OH surrounded by family.

Paul was born on May 13, 1920 the son of Levi and Nancy Oliver.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann, and daughter Cathy.

Paul is survived by his children, Paulann Rose, Vernon Oliver and his wife Ruth Ann, Barbara Hicks, Jonathan Oliver, Connie Oliver, Brian Oliver and his wife Aimee, Lorie McKinney and her husband Paul; grandchildren Tina, Paul, Tony, Mike, Patty, Mark, Tim, Danny, Becky, Susan, Bill, Barbara-Ann, Robin, Pam, Jenni, James, Shelly, Deanna, and Katie; 42 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

Paul served honorably in the Army during World War II in the Philippines, and later in Japan during the Allied occupation. Following his military service he started his career with Cincinnati Street Railway in 1948 as a street car operator. Working through the changeover to Trolley Buses, and then to motor coaches. Transitioning from privately owned Cincinnati Transit to Queen City Metro. Paul drove over 2 million safe miles in 39 years of service, retiring in 1987. He then returned to Metro as an Information Specialist in the old Government Square information booth for additional 11 years for a total of 50 years of service. He was the last active Metro employee to have driven a Street Car.

Paul spent much of his life as a servant of the Lord. As a member of Landmark Baptist Temple he was a volunteer bus driver from the mid-60s through the early 80s, providing transportation to those that wanted to be in the Lord's house but couldn't make it there on their own. Since its inception he has been a member of Harvest Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon for much of his time with them. He was always there with an open heart and spiritual guidance for those in need.
