On friday, June 5, 2015, we come together to celebrate the precious life of Pearl Marcela Cordell. Pearl was introduced to the world on August 25, 1920 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the proud parents of Benjamin Welton and Alice Welton (nee Williams). Our Heavenly Father said, "Well done" and called her home on Thursday May 28, 2015 at the age of 94.
Pearl married George Henry Cordell Sr. in 1937 and gave birth to six children, George Jr., Gary, Sharon, Larry, Sandra and Theresa. Theresa preceded her in death at the age of 3. Pearl and George Sr. raised their children on Chapel St. in Walnut Hills and worshiped the Lord at Bethel Baptist Church where she served on the Women's Auxiliary for many years. Pearl and George Sr. moved their family to Kennedy Heights where she had remained after his death in 1979. Pearl worked as an assembly line worker at Kenner Toys for many years. After retirement, she dedicated 100% of her life to the Lord and her family. She was full of life and always extended a hand of help and love to whomever was in need. The term of endearment she commonly used to everyone she loved was,"You ain't nothing but sugar sugar sugar!"
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years George H. Cordell Sr., parents Benjamin Welton and Alice Welton-Johnson, daughter Theresa Cordell, sisters Lillie Welton, Alice McKinney and Emma Johnson-Salyard; brothers Ernest Linwood Johnson, James Johnson and Charles Johnson. Pearl is survived by her beloved children George H. (Carol) Cordell Jr., Gary (Claudia) Cordell, Sharon Cordell-Johnson, Larry (Selma) Cordell, and Sandra (Terry) O'Neal; sister, Jeanette Anderson; grandchildren, Kim, Connie, Darryl, Bryan, Lori, Calecia, Teresa, Marc, Torrey, Corey, Keith, Jonathan, Terry, Ashley, Aaron, Ian, Kareth, Machele, Michael and Justice; 45 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
