Randy A. Kuhn

November 10, 1955 — September 27, 2024

Cincinnati

Randy A. Kuhn, age 68, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024. Born in Cincinnati on November 10, 1955 to Robert and Garnet Gail Kuhn (née Gardner), he was deeply loved and cherished by family and friends.

Randy preceded in death by his father, Robert Kuhn; his mother, Garnet Gail Kuhn; and his brother, Roderick Alan.

He is survived by his daughter Jackie Kuhn, his step-daughter Kristen Earhart, and a host of other family members and friends who will remember him fondly.

Most of you knew Randy in many different parts of life. He left us suddenly Thursday into Friday while he was in ICU at Christ Hospital. Although unexpected he was surrounded by friends and family.

This is the rest of the story,

A man born and raised West Side. In the era where the West Side was small and tight knit; in one way or another you knew a Kuhn.

Much like his father he drew people to him like a magnet. The Kuhn house on Hardwick Drive was where it all began. Randy’s parents, Garnet and Bob, encouraged Randy’s friends to spend as much time as possible at the Kuhn residence and loved them like their own. The perfect setting and all the right people made for a lifelong journey of friendships and great foundation of family relationships.

The groups of friends Randy had and people he truly cared about is something very few people get to experience in a lifetime . He was the kind of person that pulled all types of people together just because he was having the gathering. And he had many gatherings, particularly at his Orchard Court residence. Sunday afternoon Bengals games were a staple for many of his friends, enduring the thrill of rare Bengal victories and the agony of many defeats!

The beauty in all the friendships was they were the kind of relationships that could be left untouched for years and begin again right where they left off without missing a beat and the same went for family dynamics.

Randy’s open door policy never changed to anyone no matter where things stood.

He always truly cared about taking care of everyone and everything that was precious to him. He was never the kind of person to throw something away because it wasn’t working. Only after multiple times of being repaired, consulting others and finally being beyond the point of repair could it be replaced.

Randy was just one certification short of being a Master Technician in Auto Mechanics, this isn’t because he couldn’t it was because he didn’t want to work on that specific thing. He was that type of person in life. The decision or choice was made and that was that . Although, to all of us he was the Master and he kept us all running. Countless nights were spent after work in his garage doing side work to make sure those he knew and cared about were taken care of or checking vehicles to make sure their kids were safe. Meanwhile almost messing up his own surprise 50th not leaving the house because he had worked on his daughter’s car all day. Upon slight nudging he managed to get up and show up.

The man loved to be surrounded by those he loved and as prepared as he could. If he was ever anticipating a situation he never liked to be blind sided and would have a “Well rehearsed line” that was always a signature sentence.

Kristen (stepdaughter) was his first glimpse at how difficult his life was going to be, in being a girl dad. He was always just him. Doing nothing except filling her life with love and making sure she was a part of all the events shared with family and friends which in turned shaped memories of a lifetime.

The man loved his daughter (Jackie) with his whole heart. She could truly push him to the edge of hair pulling and he would still drop anything in a moment to give her another push towards success and finding herself. (She was the same with him).

His escapes in life varied from his love of old cars, Nascar, fishing trips, golf outings, watching the games with friends, listening to records, and most of all the lakes.

The Lakes will be Randy’s final resting place. His ashes will be spread when the timing is right. This was always his final request. Twin Lakes (Wisconsin) and Rocky Fork Lake (Hillsboro) were his peaceful places. The places where over the years Family and Friends were one and the same. Everything was always just easier at the Lakes and life was forgotten for a little while and being fully present came naturally. He will spend eternity in the calm of wonderful memories.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Randy donated to USO so donations may be made in his name as it was something he cared about. Every Christmas he would also make several Shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse this is something special anyone can do to help a child.
